What a Oberstufenzentrum offers
The OSZ are Berlin's vocational schools. After the tenth grade, you can obtain all of your school degrees there (BBR, eBBR, MSA, Entrance qualification for a university of applied sciences, Abitur) or undergo vocational education and training. What's special is that, at the OSZ, vocational and general education subjects are combined. In this way, the OSZ creates a connection between school and practice. If you decide for an OSZ, you can complete your academic journey there, but you can also effectively prepare for your dream job and acquire job-related skills.
Each OSZ has its own focus — for example, media technology or social work. Vocational schools with a special educational focus also offer vocational education and training. And those who already have a vocational qualification can extend their education at the OSZ, e.g. to become a Business Economist or Technician. Overall, you can choose from a wide range of exciting professions. There's something for everyone!
EVERYTHING UNDER ONE ROOF
The OSZ offers are diverse and they cover various educational areas. These can be summarised in four pillars:
- Vocational training preparation
- Vocational education and training
- Abitur or Entrance qualification for a university of applied science (Fachabitur)
- Further education
Vocational training preparation (IBA) equips young people for vocational education and training as well as assists in the search for a training company. Those who have completed school and wish to start their careers can quickly take part in a vocational training at the OSZ. Obtaining the Abitur or Entrance qualification for a university of applied science is also possible. For those who are already in their professional life, the OSZ offers further training that prepares them for entrepreneurial activities or leadership positions.

If you are unsure whether you meet all the necessary requirements, it is best to contact the OSZ of your choice directly. Your documents will be checked there and you will be advised accordingly.
Mittbestimmungsgremien am OSZ
An den Berliner OSZ gibt es viele Mitwirkungs- und Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten. Die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Schüler/Innen, Eltern, Lehrkräften und weiterem Schulpersonal ist wichtig für eine demokratische Schulgemeinschaft. Dabei spielen die verschiedenen Gremien eine wichtige Rolle. Nutzen Sie also Ihre Mitwirkungsmöglichkeiten, um die Schul- und Unterrichtsentwicklung an Ihrem OSZ voran zu bringen.
